PREACHERS OR MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKERS

PREACHERS OR   MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKERS Today, you walk into a new generation church and the preacher tantalizes your mind with mesmerizing words and catchy phrases. Lines from philosophers are used more the scriptures. There is no insight or depth   in the scriptures taught; every line is tailored towards exciting the congregation, meeting their emotional needs and boosting the financial status of the church. The question I dare to ask is do we still preachers or they have been replaced by motivational speakers?! Churches now employ preachers not because of the level of anointing they carry, but choose by how well they can convince and carry a congregation. The church is run like it’s a business enterprise, ‘HAPPY CONGREGATION, HAPPY CHURCH’ or better still, ‘HAPPY CONGREGATION & THE CHURCH SMILES TO THE BANK’. For the most part, Christian motivational speakers concentrate on two areas that may overlap. The first is spreading the gospel. This does not mean that they are ...

UNTIE THE ROPE

So, I just finished filming a really good movie called GOOD DEEDS. It’s me like you’ve never seen me before. It comes out in February, brace yourself.   There were a lot of long days on this shoot, so I wanted to take a break.  I decided to do some traveling and since I still have 20 more pounds to lose before I start my next movie, ALEX CROSS, I thought I would go to the Grand Canyon and do some hiking, climbing and so on.  At one point in the climbing, I was over a steep drop and was tied to a safety rope, while a buddy’s safety rope was tied to me. It was my responsibility to help him up, since I was bigger and weighed more.  I told him, “I’ll hold on to you to help you up but if you start to pull me over with you, I’m going to untie this rope.” We had a good laugh about it, but I was serious… I started thinking about that moment a few days ago. How many times are we tied to a person, people or things that are pulling us down and we won’t untie the rope?  F...

the priceless ingredients

The price less ingredient In the city of Baghdad lived Hakeem, the Wise one, and many people went to him for counsel, which he gave freely to all, asking nothing in return. There came to him a young man, who had spent much but got little, and said ”Tell me ,wise one, what shall I do to receive the most for that which I spend?” Hakeem answered, “A thing that is bought or sold has no value unless it contains that which cannot be bought or sold. Look for the Priceless Ingredient.” “But, what is the priceless ingredient?” asked the young man. Spoke the Wise One,” My son, the Priceless ingredient of every product in the market place is the Honor and Integrity of him who makes it. Consider his name before you buy.

A message from Tyler Perry

Can I talk to you for a second? I want to talk to all of you who are taking care of the kids, taking care of your husbands and wives, girlfriends or boyfriends, to those of you who are working to make ends meet, to those of you who are worried about everyone and everything else, so much so that you have taken yourself off the list. I need to tell you something.  If you’re not at the top of your own list then you are doing all those people in your life a huge disservice. My mother had diabetes.  She lost her eyesight, lost her kidneys and eventually lost her life. Sometimes I get so mad and angry that she is not here.  What I know for sure is that God does not make any mistakes. So, I accept His will.  I think the thing that makes me the angriest is Diabetes is preventable and reversible. Did you know that with diet and exercise, lots of people have prevented and even reversed it?  I kid you not. I’m serious!  Diabetes is not just “a little s...

who wants to be a millionaire

What comes to mind when you see this question, as it is far from being rhetorical? Strangely enough, it might interest you to know that not everyone wants to be a millionaire. But for some it’s a do or die affair, ‘Get Rich or Die Trying’. Well, I’m a Zillionaire (…lol..billionaire or trillionaire is limiting, that’s what I believe for me ) & its mainly for common good. However, let’s leave the spiritual gymnastics of claiming the Best or mere aspirations and optimism and attempt to address the matter, “Who Wants to be Millionaire?”. Assuming you’re answering in the affirmative, how, when and why do want to be a millionaire? WHY? ; The ‘Why’ is such an important element, that it goes a long way show your desperation; determine the extent one will go in answering the how. It also informs the goal setting approach ,which is the reality of a future trapped down on the paper with specific steps to achieve it within a time bound. WHEN; Your goals must have a deadline ,so that you kno...

WHAT GOZ AROUND COMS AROUND

This is not new, but well worth being reminded. One day a man saw an old lady, stranded on the side of the road, but even in the dim light of day, he could see she needed help. So he pulled up in front of her Mercedes and got out. His Pontiac was still sputtering when he approached her. Even with the smile on his face, she was worried. No one had stopped to help for the last hour or so. Was he going to hurt her? He didn't look safe; he looked poor and hungry. He could see that she was frightened, standing out there in the cold. He knew how she felt. It was that chill which only fear can put in you. He said, "I'm here to help you, ma'am. Why don't you wait in the car where it's warm? By the way, my name is Bryan Anderson." Well, all she had was a flat tire, but for an old lady, that was bad enough. Bryan crawled under the car looking for a place to put the jack, skinning his knuckles a time or two. Soon he was able to change the tire. But he ...

THE DON’TS OF A FIRST DATE

There are some things guys should never do when taking a girl out on a first date. A study shows that if you tend to show or do more than one of these facts, you will either never get a second date or get a relationship that will never stand the test of time. This facts although varies in various cases. As we know the way people react to various factors differs. So also is the case with these facts, although it proves to be right to a large extent. You should never let her know how much you earn. Most ladies like to know how much a guy earns and how much he is worth. In as much as you know that they want to know, a guy just needs to show how much he is worth in is dressing, his swagger, and the type of wheels he drives. Leave digits out of all discussions. A girl never wants to know the number of girls you have conquered. This tells a lot about who the guy is when it comes to dating. Obviously the higher the number of conquers insinuates that the lady too will soon become one of ...

THE QUEST FOR DEVELOPMENT

THE QUEST FOR DEVELOPMENT: A CASE FOR HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA                                                             BY   MAKU A.O* and ULORI T.J** ABSTRACT Sustainable development has been the battle of every nation around the world; the developed and the developing, even though there are different perspectives to development, there is a general consensus that development will lead to a good change manifested in increased capacity of people to have control over material assets, intellectual resources and ideology, and obtain physical necessities of life like food, clothing, shelter, employment, etc over time. This is why some people have argued that the purpose of dev...
